Who is eligible to participate in the Innovation Accelerator?

Proposed problems must affect OSI clinic patients and solutions must be aimed at improving clinical access and veteran centric care. OSI Clinic teams must include at least one member who is associated with an OSI clinic.


We are busy. How much commitment will this require?

The Veterans Mental Health Innovation Accelerator has been tailored for busy OSI clinic professionals. The amount of effort varies by team role and stage.  to reduce the amount of effort in each stage. The amount of involvement is dependent on how many stages teams can successfully go through.


How does our team progress through the phases of the Accelerator?

Teams progress through the Accelerator phases under the guidance of Innovation Accelerator Advisory Board, which selects ideas, conducts review meetings and arranges resources for teams. Funding decisions are made by the Accelerator Investment Committee.


How will projects be evaluated?

Problem and solution submissions will be evaluated by the Innovation Accelerator Advisory Board on their ability to meet criteria like:

  • Novelty
  • Potential Impact
  • Feasibility/Practicality
  • Quality of Team and Resources
  • Plan for use of funds
  • Clarity of plan: Milestones & defined go/no go decisions

What are shareable components?

Our goal is to cultivate and scale innovations in clinical access and veterans experience across the network to benefit all veterans across Canada. Our process is designed to harvest and share problems, solutions, and other components as the innovation process unfolds.


Should I submit confidential information?

Anything that you submit may be shared with other teams in the network. Only non-confidential information should be submitted. No patient identifiable information may be submitted in the Accelerator.


I am already on an innovation project. Should I join the Accelerator?

Yes. We will help you track your project and will try and find resources that might help you.


What happens with Intellectual Property?

The Accelerator has a flexible Intellectual property approach that seeks to maximize value for contributors and the National Network as a whole. Partners that enter the Accelerator with intellectual property do not relinquish ownership rights to data or other intellectual property that they wish to protect. When partners collectively develop Intellectual Property Rights, those rights will vest for the benefit of the network.
